Dr. Haruyuki Makio

Haruyuki Makio graduated from Kyoto University with his Master’s degree in polymer chemistry in 1992, after which he joined Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd. (now Mitsui Chemicals Inc.), where he has since been actively involved in the development of new olefin polymerization catalysts, polymerization processes and polymeric materials.
In addition, he worked in the lab of Professor Tobin J. Marks as a visiting scholar at Northwestern University during 1999–2001. He earned his Doctor’s degree from Kyoto University on olefin polymerization catalysis in 2011.
He recently relocated to Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre, a newly established overseas subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals Inc., where he was appointed as general manager. His research interests span from polymer and organometallic chemistry, and homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, to the development of novel organic and inorganic materials.
