ABSTRACT

The present paper illustrates the study of the cutting force encountered during Electrochemical Grinding (ECG) process as reflected through Design of experiment based experimental studies with the process parametric combinations, i.e; types of power supply and feed rate on the cutting forces while machining die steel work pieces. The instantaneous cutting forces are analyzed with time using different types of power supplies at a constant feed rate. Signal to Noise(S/N) ratio is performed along with ANOVA to predict the significance of the chosen parameters. The optimum level of the process variables is determined by Analysis of Means (ANOM). It is recommended that DC power supply and moderate feed rate keeps the cutting force in its lowest level.
