Prof. Guoxin ZHANG |

Prof Guoxin ZHANG, professorate senior engineer majored in Hydraulic structures, is the director of the Department of Structures and Materials of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower (IWHR). He obtained his BSc, MEng and PhD form Tsinghua University, China. He was recruited to work in Japan in 1995 and began to study the Numerical Manifold Method and the Discontinuous Deformation Analysis method there and returned China in 2001. His major research areas include complex hydraulic structures of high-performance computing, concrete dam construction simulation of temperature and stress analysis, hydraulic new structure, complex materials, temperature and stress simulation methods, modern numerical methods etc. He has successfully managed dozens of key and major scientific research projects for Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Water Resources, State Power Corporation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. He has published over 110 articles, won five awards for Science and Technology Progress at both the provincial and ministry level, one National Outstanding Achievement Award for Engineering Consultation, and one Hydropower Association Outstanding Paper Award and owns two invention patents and four utility model patents. |
