ABSTRACT

The reform of higher education in Russia creates support of leading universities. St.Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics is one of 14 institutions achieved the grade of National Research University. This grade implies preferences in funding the programs of development during five years. The paper discloses new opportunities granted by this rank for improvement the laboratory facilities, advanced continuing education of professors and scientists, development new educational programs and information resources.
