ABSTRACT

The practical learn-by-doing educational programs have been conducted by the faculty of engineering of Niigata University for five years, which was adapted to the grant in aid of MEXT of Japanese government. The skills and educational factors which the students studying engineering technologies must acquire are believed to lie in the practical R&D processes driven by the company engineers. We have attempted to adopt the beforegraduation students to the research collaborations driven by company engineers and university faculties. Eleven practical learn-by-doing educational themes have been carefully chosen and precisely planned to be operated. These collaboration programs are based on the relationships which have been individually conducted in the activities of each research work. In addition, a characteristic supporting network of the engineers system outside the university so-called “A Network of 100 Wise Men” has been organized to assist the whole system effectively.

Keywords: Project-based learning, Company collaboration.
