ABSTRACT

Universities in the world have become a “747 problem”: pilots must be must be professionals and the risk of having a volunteer to pilot a 747 is full of risks and future problems. Customers need true professionals that can pilot the machine under any kind of “meteorological” circumstances. Time for voluntary work is ending and a new specialisation body is growing quickly all over the world. This new manager has to operate both “faces of the moon”: the academic fields and the industry arena. These professionals must manage academic systems to serve the different social settings around the institution and, in the Technical Universities case, to serve specifically the industry and services companies needs. This paper present different models for develop the links task, the enhancement of the University third mission thought lifelong learning and continuing education.
