Welcome Message

On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all WCCEE delegates to Singapore and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Climate change and global warming have been the biggest environmental threat facing our planet. If we act now, we can still minimize the damage. Meeting grand challenges require grand collaboration such as the World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF). As we stand united on the WEEF platform, the vision is clear – collective efforts are needed in education and research to come out with sustainable solutions for the world to remain the planet that we know – and one which we would want to live in.

NUS plays a significant role in nurturing of Engineer-Leaders to take on grand challenges. The education process goes beyond the classroom – and beyond degrees. We facilitate and encourage lifelong learning to ensure that our graduates have their fingers on the pulse, keeping abreast and ahead of technology advancements and trends. The campus is a hot bed for research and development which are often collaborative efforts with the industry so that benefits and applications can be transferred to end users as soon as possible.

I am glad that we have the opportunity to host WEEF in Singapore and I would like to thank all who have contributed time and effort to make the event and occasion a success.
