ABSTRACT

The growing development of automatic mapping results in the production of large spatial databases; many applications require access to complex and large data volumes which reduce the effectiveness of analyzing them. It is thus required to develop and apply techniques in automatic knowledge extraction through the process of data mining. Spatial Data mining can significantly help improving traffic safety, and has been used in many traffic related studies. This paper proposes the use of spatial data mining in traffic data analysis in order to predict regions with a high level of risk and analyzing and explaining those risks with respect to the geographic neighborhood.

Keywords: Spatial data mining, Decision trees, Artificial neural networks.
